ABOUT

My husband and I have been together for over 30 years. In that time we have often found ourselves providing education and training to others, both in our careers and in our hobbies. We are passionate about helping others and sharing our knowledge and experiences. The current course offerings of personal self defense and firearms training are just the beginning.

Although I grew up in Griffin, I have lived in the Middle Georgia area for over 30 years.  I graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville with a BS in Psychology and Criminal Justice.  During that time, I also served my country as a member of the Army Reserve.  I have served in Law Enforcement since 1991, working for various departments with a variety of positions and responsibilities.  I had the privilege to serve as an Officer during the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta.  Although I started off in Corrections, I have spent most of my career as a police officer, working patrol, COPS (community policing), and as a K9 officer.  I have served as both a Sergeant and a Police Chief.  Throughout my career, I have continued training and hold multiple certifications:  Ga. POST Instructor, Ga. POST Firearms Instructor, Ga. POST Shotgun Instructor, and more.   This has given me the opportunity to train and qualify many Police Officers through the years.

While attending college in Milledgeville, I met and eventually married Jan. We both earned our Black Belts with the American TaeKwonDo Association (ATA), prior to having children.  We have 2 adult children, a yard full of critters and a house full of cats.

I have a love of the outdoors that includes hunting and shooting. And in my spare time, I am a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Although I grew up in Conyers, I have lived in the Middle Georgia area for over 30 years.  I graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville with a Master’s in Psychology.  My state career began as a social worker for Putnam County DFCS.  From there, I worked as a behavior specialist and unit team leader for Central State Hospital.  While there I found that I enjoyed providing staff training, in both Physical Interventions, and in CPR.  This eventually led to a career change and I became a special education teacher in Baldwin County.  From there I transferred to the Wilkinson County school system, with teaching certifications in a variety of areas.  Although I am now retired, I continue to work part-time as a teacher with Wilkinson County.  I am also an adjunct professor of Psychology at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.  The love of teaching is what has brought my husband and I to the opening of this business.
